    Hi

I edited the hildon-desktop/home.safe-set file to add two items (omweather.desktop and currency-exchange-widget.desktop) to avoid items disappearing from desktop on reboot

now when I switch on, the N900 gets to the desktop and then reboots again and again and again ..........

Is there anyway to fix this without flashing? (done that once and spent half day re-installing everything - didn't help last night when maemo.org was down!)

Can you just boot into a safe mode command line

    Regards

    Paul

There is no such mode. What you can do is boot to meego by flashing kernel (and u-boot) only. From meego you can mount the rootfs and fix the issues.

Not now that you are stuck in the loop - you'll have to reflash.

Once you do though, install BackupMenu and if you ever have a problem again, you will be able to fix it by backing up, fixing the problem & restoring.

Also good if it wont boot, but you want the data from MyDocs, you can mount the mass storage directly.
