And the first version isn't usually error free. It's not about getting it right the first time, bug quickly reacting to bug reports and fixing bugs =)

Those are great ideas, and if the program had those features, I would donate. I have donated to other programs, so yours would not be the first.

The app doesn't do what I would want actually, which would be to rescan and retune the transmitter to a free frequency on demand.

It would be better to roll the functionality into a widget like the RDSNotify widget, or incorporate the FMTX on/off and RDS text customisation into your app as a one stop shop.

There are 2 basic issues for me with this whole concept. 1 is having to plug headphones in as an antenna. If I have to do that I may as well plug in my aux-in connector.

The other one is that on long journeys I tend not to use the FMTX anyway as the phone's on charge, and this causes interference,

These are meant as positive and constructive comments, and having said that though, I do like the look of the interface and wish you look with the project.

Just thought of this though. This auto-scanning function would be great if it was turned on it's head and used to find a list of active stations which could be fed into the FM radio player app.

Just to add that I would seriously consider a payment for a decent autoscanning FM radio app which worked consistently - the current one often fails to kick back in following a system event sound such as email, sms etc. The scanning and RDS pickup seems to be virtually non-existant as well.

if you write this app and combind it with FM reciever function and broadcasting FM recieved over the FM Transmitter then I would donate

we really in need for a good FM Radio because the one in Extra is buggy and crap.

This application came a bit late in my opinion. You should develop it using QT and sell it for a reasonable price (1-2 euros) for Symbian, Maemo and Meego on the ovi store. I understand that you don't want to sell it, but I doubt that Symbian users understand the concept of OSS. I wouldn't donate for this because I found a perfect frequency in April. However this might appeal to new N8 and other phones with the necessary hardware.

However I would consider donating to this if included you have a non-buggy widget that switches on the transmitter and sets the boost. That is a need I personally have.

The application itself should update the frequency automatically when the search is done and maybe provide links to the media player.

I hope you are not getting disencouraged by the negative posts.
Its just reality today that most people do not want to pay for software. It is starting with the usage of cracked software and goes on with not giving a donation.
I also have written some software with a "donation request", but only got around 3 small donations in my whole life.
I am not getting disencouraged by that, because:

I also hardly ever donated money
I like the opensource concept (free take, free give)
I am not developing my software because I want to earn money, but because I enjoy it

How ever this is also based on the fact that I have a good payed job and am not dependent on the money from donations.
I personally would appreciate it more if people instead of donating would test my software and vote for it, so it can get moved into Extras sooner (http://maemo.org/packages/package_in...lyser/1.8-105/).

its all about advertisement ? you can sell anything with good push. As long as you have something people want, all you have to do is package it really nice. and people will buy .. !!!

If I had a job, yes. Even if I didn't use it (I don't need to broadcast stuff by FM that often) I would indeed donate if I had a steady income that met my and my GF's living expenses. As a college student, I am not in that position, so the honest answer is probably not. I've got a long list of things to donate, (SleepAnalyser, possibly Columbus, FApMan, h-e-n, fMMS, Filebox Titan's power kernel, etc. Advanced Clock Plugin, Advance Power, Advance Interface Switcher, couple others. I am actually even thinking of donating to the now-dead-or-stagnated NeoPwn2 - just because I understand that he did put significant effort into it at the time, and just because it stagnated doesn't really make him undeserving of it.) So I would donate, if I could. If I actually used the app, it would get a higher priority in the list of things that need donating.

I can easily set the transmitter to the first free/empty frequency found, but i dont know if i will manage to make a widget (i know nothing about them but i will try to learn
