One thing I would warn about is running software from extras-devel. The reason DialCentral probably didn't load is that there are some broken libraries in extras-devel but we have some steps to work around this issue (basically trying to encourage the device to only grab the libraries from extras). I brought up the issue of the broken libraries a couple weeks ago and I haven't heard back yet but I'm hoping they will be fixed.
