Was having the same problem as Rocketman. After using autorotate, I could not get North up to work again...no matter what I tried using the menu options. However when I read the post about the Dpad keys being remapped unless I had previously changed the settings, I mapped up=N up. Then I used that button it worked. Guess this is a minor bug.

I had had some minor difficulty with 2.0 and 2.0.1 even though I removed the old maps. What would happen to my N800 was MM would appear to launch, then vanish consistently after it said it successfully installed. I looked through the list of running processes on my N800 and MM was not in the list. Repeating the launching, resulted in the same vanishing failure. I probably had some corrupted MM database or MM config file lingering somewhere in my system. I did get some message about legacy maps being present, even though I had deleted all my old maps (many many megabytes).

I followed the author's xterm recommendation for a full purge of the old MM by doing what is found in the post linked below:

    http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...4&postcount=82

Then I reinstalled 2.0.1 (didn't bother with 2.0 anymore) and that fixed my problem (link above). MM 2.0.1 installed and launched nicely thereafter. The above link is part of this thread.

It pays to read all the posts in this thread. That is how I found the cure I needed.

Maemo Mapper v2.0.2 is a minor bugfix release, fixing some GPS receiver communication issues, some drawing issues, and some crashing issues. It also fixes the remote possibility of corrupting the map database.

Please let me know if anyone else is still having GPS receiver communication problems with v2.0.2.

(Note: until the repository is updated, you can use this link the v2.0.2 in the Maemo Mapper Garage page. Again, it is recommended to use this direct link only if you have already downloaded and installed a version of Maemo Mapper v2.x.)

Here are my steps in case it's reproducible.

    1. Have version 1.4(7).
    2. Map all Dpad keys to something else.
    3. Remove 1.4.
    4. Install 2.0.
    5. During first route, notice that I don't like autorotate.
    6. Try to turn it off, rotate, do anything related to rotation using the menu >>> Nothing.
    7. Remap up key to North up.
    8. Press up >>> works as expected

Bug?: If i open a bluetooth connection to phone before i start Maemo Mapper it doesn't find my bluetooth GPS receiver. So you need to start Maemo Mapper before opening internet via mobile phone. When Maemo Mapper is running you can disconnect and reconnect both phone and GPS bluetooth connection in any order and everything works fine.

I installed 2.01 as soon as it was in the repo, deleted my maps, deleted the mm map repos, but got stuck on the download. It said (and still says) 'An error occured while retrieving the repositories. The web service may be temporarily down.' I've used only the openstreet maps since yesterday, but since nobody else seem to have reported any issues with the download I think there must be something else wrong (than just the site being down). Any ideas?

The restart fixed the GPS connection problem for me but for some reason my zooms are only going to levels 0, 4, and 8. It skips all between levels. How do I fix this?

I apologize if this has been reported before but I did not get a chance to read all the posts. My bug is that MM 2.01 crashes every time I try and open a saved track. I have tried it with tracks created by 1.xx and by 2.0 (not with tracks created with 2.01). Is this expected behavior because of the zooming changes?

Also, I treid to download 2.02 from the link above and just got a blank page.

    Thanks,
    Fred

I had this same "feature" with Maemo Mapper 1.4.x (Holux 240 GPS).

I got this one too. "An error occured while retrieving the repositories. The web service may be temporarily down."

My solution was to manually insert the URL for Google Streets and Virtual Earth Streets. I do not know the URL for the others (satellite imagery maps and Hybrid maps) so I don't have them for now. MM 1.4x spoiled me with all those other maps to chose from, MM 2.0.1 only gave me OpenStreets until I manually typed in the URL for the other two mentioned above.

I thought this was temporary so I didn't bring up before today. I just tried it again this morning. Looks to not be temporary. Maybe it was fixed in 2.0.2? or maybe there really is a problem outside MM that is causing this inability to acquire the six maps repos that I was accustomed to in MM 1.4x

Gnuite, can you give us the URL for Google Sat / hyb and VE sat / hyb repos so we can manually enter them into MM for now? I loved driving in a large parking lot and watching MM show me on a satellite image (actually an aerial image). It was a hoot. Thanks.
