Got it ! Used it !

Thank you. No rush on 2.0.3 now :-)

Maemo Mapper v2.0.3 is ready for release. You can upgrade it directly via the Application Manager or via the link at the top of this thread.

This is a quick bugfix release to fix the problem with the "Download Repositories" functionality. It also fixes some route saving/opening quirks.

    CHANGELOG:

    * Fixed download of map repositories.
    * Fixed output of altitude in saved track and route files.
    * Fixed minor bug in opening of track and route files.

With V2.0.3 I still get a segmentation fault when I try to open track saved by maemo-mapper V2.0.2 or V1.4.7:
    Code:
    GLIB CRITICAL ** Gtk - gtk_tree_model_filter_row_has_child_toggled: assertion `elt->visible' failed
    Segmentation fault

I think it would be great to be able to download POIs centered at the current display location.
I tend to just pan around to where I'm interested in going, and don't bother creating routes to those places. None of the available "Download POIs" checkboxes gives the ability to download POIs right where I'm looking. At least it doesn't appear this is possible - only "Use GPS Location", "Use End of Route", or "Origin" (which needs to be filled out - a pain on the N800) are given. An additional checkbox for "Use Map Location" or something would be great.

BTW - Thank you for this excellent application. I am very grateful for your hard work.

EDIT: Oops - Mara is right (see next post). Tap-and-hold on a map location brings up a context menu, and POIs for that location can be downloaded using "Location->Download POI...". Sorry for the dumb question.

I thought so too, but found this: If you are in a spot you like to download POIs, hold down the stylus until the menu appear. There you can select "Download POIs" around the spot you just pressed...

I am having a hard time with 2.0.3. It crashes doing simple things like panning, or when I click on a location to centre the map. I do not have a GPS connected yet.

I followed the advice on another thread about a clean install. When MM loads now, it reports it cannot recognise the database.

    ------------------------------- UPDATE -----------------------------------

I deleted all my old map directories, and it works OK now. And no crashes so far.

I found the defaults for the D-pad a bit unsettling, and have changed them back to panning.

Only one very small gripe so far. If I quickly press the D-pad button two or three times to pan in a particular direction, some times MM doesn't pan at all.

And a puzzle. If I drag the stylus across the screen, sometimes it drags the map, other times, it pans in the opposite direction. Why?

It's probably already been pointed out, but I can't find it. Is there a way to download maps along a route?? I'll be driving out of AK in a few months. Would like to predownload the maps and put them on an external drive.
