the phone does get hot as hell when using 3g.

The phone will heat up in about 10 minutes while using its 3G connection. All that the phone has done is logged into skype and facebook chat and is being used to browse the internet. Other N900s I have had get warm but never actually get hot like this device does. This phone has now sat on a WiFi connection while charging for about 2 hours now and is slightly warm. As soon as it goes onto 3G it will start to get really hot, even when not charging!

I am based in the UK, my ISP is O2 and my contract is throught the Carphonewarehouse. They are the ones who have been replacing the handsets for me, and also didn't want to replace the Sim. TBH I saw them as the phone experts as they say they are and if they said my Sim Card wasn't the issue I took their word for it...

Dan7712 I think you're getting quite a responsible service provider who offers you a fresh replacement. For your information, it's not normal to have been heating up like this and it's definitely abnormal for merely 30 minutes 3G usage.

I suspect that the facebook chat or skype are hogging CPU somehow, sometime it's due to incorrect setting that cause the process to communicate with the server in a deadlocking loop. You'd like to use top to check, or uninstall problematic package one by one to investigate.

As far as I am aware, Nokia 5230's and some other Nokia's use the same battery. Try swapping the batteries?

I mean more or less everyone I know had the 5230/5800 at some point because it was quiet popular.

Wow. People are actually doubting that the beloved N900 could be faulty? There are Nokia fans on this site that's been through 3 phones - all around the microUSB port or something else.

It happens. Put your disbelief aside, assist the man if you can.

OP... man, that truly sucks that you've had some problems.

I believe him. I got one replaced as well, though I believed it was my own fault for breaking it. It's no way for me to verify now. XD

my usb port has just died , so it need to go back to nokia now bloody gutted !

on the plus side hopefully they send me a new 1 as for your issues the n900 does get hot but never that bad
