I hate the Opera keyboard with a passion.

It is okay, and it's good enough because it's the only option available. That doesn't make it actually objectively good. It could be so, so much better.

Mohammed, is this kinda stable?
Otherwise I would try to get your project working.
Or what problems can I get?

thanks for this release

But.. How do i fix this? :/

Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mp-fremantle-generic-pr: Depends: modest (= 3.4.8+0m5) but 3.2.13-3+0m5 is to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
(apt-get -f install wants to remove mp-fremantle-generic-pr)

just to be clear, this is what happens when i try to install anything, efter installing modest portrait.

Edit: downloaded the original modest package and reinstalled that. no problems any more...

How do i use this portrait moldest version with out my apt-get going down?

mp-fremantle-generic-pr is just a meta package which does not serve any purpose other than pulling
the needed packages for maemo 5. If that is done once it has finished its job. I suggest to let it go!

It never will happen that someone asks you for anything unless you are deciding to get actively involved. The 'community'-thingy is slightly misleading, as it is not everybody posting here, but a group of active people, that took the hard work of coding better applications for the N900 on their shoulders. But you or anyone willing, might help with writing code, documentation or translating stuff.

Thank you M A-G for a fine piece of work.
  • I followed the instructions in the first post and everything went as expected.
  • I've used the portrait mode e-mail and can not imagine how I got along without it.
  • Text and attachments work fine using a SMTP server. I'm not important enough where I work for the Exchange account on the phone. I have to use the web client for Exchange.
  • Foward and Back as text labels works fine for me.
So far no unexpected behaviors in modest or anything else. Nice piece of work.

My only question is about updates to this. Do I need to check back here from time to time and pull down the update or is there a more automated push system for this?
