    Nokia update via pc problem

I was installing the update everything was fine then it got stuck & then it said connection lost & said to take out the battery, usb and THEN THE CHARGER (idiots the usb is the charger).

And so i did everything it said and the rest of what it said & clicked "Retry" And now it says updating software please wait - estimated time 15 minutes and so far it hasnt even started at all and its been 20 minutes.

So it looks like instead of getting a performance upgrade from Nokia I got a brick, hopefully not.

I'm going to continue following he directions and then clicking Retry rathat than Cancel, i havent lost hope giving CPR to my Nokia N900.

Anybody know if after i try again and follow the directions but instead of clicking retry, i click cancel will my N900 still be the same PR 1.2 with no problems?

P.S. The flasher says "This software is work-in-progress and use of this software requires
special skills and knowledge." heck no, its a work in progress and i dont have the skill... I should've went with an android phone this certainly isnt user friendly.

If it was mine I'd re-flash, since it was done, in my opinion a "dodgy" way.

    Use wiki like arora.rohan said...

I never downloaded any apps or updated before and this experiance soured me so much i'm not ever DL apps or getting another update.

Seems like the scrolling is more controllable and the battery seems to last longer so maybe the updates are working.

All my friends have android phones nexus one, samsung vibrant & so on and they said they never experienced an update failure so in the future when i get a new cell it will be an andriod.

Don't be dis-heartened, my over the air update failed because of dependencies... At the end of the day, nothing is perfect...Not even ios or Android...

What's wrong with apps? Just don't use the testing or devel repositories and your fine...

Really, flashing via the flasher is simple and safer IMO...

Also, you will never get a phone that is as open and as cool as the N900

Here is the procedure to flash the n900 using maemo flasher-3.5.
downlaod meamo flasher-3.5 just type it in google you will find it.
First go to http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php and download
    Two files : (1) RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.004_PR_COMBINED_004_ARM.bin (for flashing)
    (2) and if you want to format your emmc then download RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin
The now open meamo flasher-3.5,switch off your mobile and hold u button and plug in the usb your n900 will show you logo of nokia with a usb connected signal, If you want to format your emmc also then type : flasher_3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
Then when it is done don't switch on your n900,
    Just type : flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.004_PR_COMBINED_004_ARM.bin -f -R in the maemo flasher-3.5
Now it will flash your n900 you will be able to get new pr1.3
