s there a way i can add parental controls to the browser on the nokia n900 or is there a way to block the browser completely?

If you're giving N900 to your kids you should expect him to become hackers. Pornography and violent games are essential parts of growing a hacker, so why bother putting up a parental control? The existance of parental control is there for his/her first trial of hacking.

Add bookmarks to goatse, lemonparty, 2g1c, meatspin etc. and your child will never want for porn again

remove the browser? then install firefox and find a plugin that will do that.

dont subscribe for data plan. keep ur wifi passwd proteced and dont configure it in n900.
or use childsafe opendns
