I've made & collected various icons which look very smooth in use with maemo-mapper.
check it out here:
1.) overall replacement for the purple squares
- at first you have to rename the choosen image to poi.jpg, although it is a png file maemo-mapper requires that.
the location where the image has to be copied to depends on the location of your poi database.
e.g we suggest that it is stored in /media/mmc1/maps/poi.db then the correct location is /media/mmc1/maps/poi.jpg
in other words: <pathofyourpoidb>/poi.jpg
2.) poi category replacement
- at first you have to rename the choosen image to poi.jpg, although it is a png file maemo-mapper requires that.
if you wish just to replace the icon for a specifiy poi category, the location the image has to be copied to
depends on your location of your poi database and on the label of the specific category.
e.g. we suggest that is is stored in /media/mmc1/maps/poi.db and the name of your category is 'others' then the correct location is /media/mmc1/maps/others.jpg
in other words: <pathofyourpoidb>/<nameofyourcategory>.jpg
i made 2 screenshots for showing you how this can look like:
