Would it be possible to plug a External camera into the usb port of the N900 and watch the output of the camera on the N900? The external camera will be in a different location. WIFI not an option.

In theory, yes. You would have to make use of USB hostmode (which means you need to install v45 or v46 of kernel-power), and I don't know if the camera's drivers would be included in the kernel, so you may need to compile those as well. If the camera will be in another location you'll also have to consider that there is a limit to how long a USB cable can be (but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head)
