Although I have overcome this problem, I now have another. I cannot playback any media, It appears to playback for about 20ish seconds on my Nokia n810 but then stops. (no sound heard). nothing heard via localhost:1978 either, flowplayer just craps out with : 200 stream not found.

Try using passthrough profile with the n810 client first, since it doesn't require transcoding. If you can listen to music with it, chances are that your vlc/ffmpeg combo is too crippled and you may need to recompile it yourself

Many thanks for your help. Passthrough mode works (woop woop!) I built ffmpeg myself some time ago but it was for a program that demanded everything so I guess it must be vlc for slackware that is the problem. Thanks for your help, Must think about giving up on slackware..... Sorry Patrick!

If you want to debug what's wrong, you could google some vlc http transcoding command line examples and run them with the -vvv switch.

I am trying to play a video file but it says that VLC cant find the stream or it crashed. I have tried the startvlc.dll. file, I have enabled VLC 1.1+. In the status setting it says it is running. I can access my files from my N900 but it wont play them, it also wont play them locally on my computers browsers.
I am using Win 7.
What should I do?

For some reason you can't do ANYTHING on the page with the built in browser or DolphinHD. Firefox sorta works but it's EXTREMELY unresponsive - and when you want to start a stream you can't get past the embedded flash video (I wanna choose "use external player").
Is there something I can do?
