Because Intel does not have Atom performance vs. power consumption down to a level that is acceptable for a mobile device. I suspect that if the N9 actually does come with an Atom device, it will be hounded and pounded for poor battery life, never mind the heat the thing will likely put off.

I was expecting a dual-core Meego N9 and now we have an single-core atom CPU that will drain the battery down?I don`t predict anything until I see the device.It might be excellent and Nokia will surprise us.....time will tell

i don't know whats going on with nokia but it seems they are confused.
dual core cpu's with great graphics are coming and nokia will bring a single core atom?

nokia have stated they will release dual core devices H2 this year.
what is a bigger fail is the engadget generation in this thread believing everything they see on the net, when a simple search in certain a place would give them concrete facts about what nokia is using.
