is there any application to reboot with a single key else than to power off and on again and again ?
i know there is one but it didn't work

Search "Reboot button for noobs" or something like that. You can add a reboot button to your power key menu.

Quick guide...
1. Install rootsh package if you haven't already.
2. In X Terminal, 'sudo gainroot' without quotes.
3. In your favorite text editor, as root, open /etc/systemui/systemui.xml and edit it.

<!-- Any text--> is commented out, ignored by system.
Each <tag> must have corresponding closing </tag>

Don't delete files or folders, and you will be fine.

4. When you have finished with this file, save it.
5. Not-as-root, in X Terminal: 'killall systemui' without quotes. Or just shut down - turn back on.

Now press power key to see what the menu looks like.

1. Install rootsh package if you haven't already.
2. In X Terminal type 'sudo gainroot' without quotes.
3 type "reboot" without quotes

N900 should reboot, I did ask on another thread for an app but no developer seemed interested as playing with systemui files cam be slightly risky

This may also help as well shortcut to open X term is:-

Shift+Ctrl+X opens X-Terminal
