Ever since I installed some battery related app (don't remember what it was called) the little icon that displays battery life near the time has disappeared.

I followed the instructions on here:

(copied the files into the path they've mentioned)

But still no luck. I even uninstalled that app but the battery icon never comes back.

I really want it back can someone help me out here.

you may have another battery app installed, i got this problem when 2 seemed to conflict, have a look and uninstall if you do. otherwise change your theme and restart see if this helps.

Paste those (as root) into /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon.

If you want to get the original ones back someone is going to have to load up a backup that they have created. If you go backwards in the thread from the post I directed you to you will find more icons.

You could also try installing D4rKlar's D4rK M4rina theme which also replaces the battery icons during installation, though I think this is done through a symlink to the /themes/ directory
