I use it while on-call to work on servers, mostly AIX some Linux. I am able to use vpnc (cisco vpn client clone) to connect to work, then xterm and ssh with my Nokia su-w8 bluetooth keyboard and fix any problem I might run into. I have used with terminal servers and NIM and upgraded servers just using my 770. I just need a wifi connection. I also use it with gaim and libmeanwhile (Lotus Notes Sametime Client) Works great!!
There's rumors that my company is going to buy a bunch to demo our online product at trade shows. And since there are clients that want a "PDA" solution, we are killing two birds with one 770.
PDA tools, and web site demonstration are the main features.
If the sketching tool was better, it could be used as sketch modeling for web design clients. Unfortunately - it's pretty sucky at this point with non-fullscreen canvas, no multiple undo, and general lack of features.

My 770 servers the same functions that my palm lifedrive used to serve - but it does most of the them much better.
1. My system monitors sometimes produce false positives, so having a
small device with a working ssl web browser in my pocket or next to the bed allows me to quickly check things. This saves me from missing lunches, dinners and most important, sleep.
2. I carry several references with me as pdf's, e.g. technical books from oreilly's safari online bookshelf.
3. I can use bugzilla and RT, a bug tracking and a ticketing system, while in a meeting.
4. I keep several tables of important configuration notes via memos and gnumeric.
About the only thing I still feel the 770 is pretty bad at is being a mobile imap client. I'm trying to find a web based email client that works well with the 770 as a workaround until someone, possibly me, ports something that makes better use of the 770.

Same thing but you have to notice that it's difficult to open huge PDF (more that 2 MB for example).

I used to make shopping with gnumeric. The problem is that the 770 version doesn't allowed to read from or to save to XL format.

The embeeded IMAP client is bad, I agree. There is a interesting project with Polymer/770 (interesting because it's an ACAP client) but it's sleeping at this time. You can use the embeeded Opera as a webmail client. That't what I'm using right now with a Horde frontend. But using webmail in mobility is not very efficient : logging in, several menus to go through before being able to read the mail. A convenient IMAP client (with a VPN) would be far more efficient.
Let's wait ...
Other interesting usages:
- mapping WiFi and GSM networks (with GPS of course) without having the drawback to handle a heavy handbook;
- reading online or offline books/sites, mail and blogging while traveling (very convenient while traveling by train);
- remote administration of machines through SSH (while traveling why not);
- document writing (with a good BT keyboard of course);
- information widgets (train and metro schedules, GPS driving, weather forecast, hot news, RSS feeds, etc): bank of useful informations always in the pocket;
- SMS sending and reading, far more convenient than using the poor and fake telephone's keyboard;
- good (not so good in fact) audio and video player, can be used as a iPod replacement while doing any of the previous tasks simultaneously (try to do it with an iPod!);
- waiting for the ability to use the embeeded HP/mic to replace the phone itself (through BT profile "audio gateway") while keeping the phone for establishing the voice link;
- waiting for the ability to use the embeeded HP/mic and/or an external BT headset (through BTP profile like A2DP to be developped on the 770) with remote command and microphone to make ToIP while keeping the phone for establishing the data link.
