Hm. Split thumb keyboards. Nice.

Wonder if it's going to run Symbian or Maemo.

The Nokia e70 has split qwerty keyboard design with the screen in the middle too. Is this N96 for real or is it just some fanboy's photoshop mockup?

Quoted from the statement:

"The PXi was designed by a leftie Bence Bogar and the Spanish discussion board ToDoSymbian has come up with the Nokia N96 N-Gage gaming phone concept...."

According to that statement, Nokia had nothing to do with it.

Right, it's just a concept.

Fugly camera on the back of it, especially for a "concept" phone.

lol... there are other mockups called "N96" as well. Lot of disinformation going on about Nokia's next moves...

The Nokia E70 (http://europe.nokia.com/phones/e70 , click on "open"!) is one of my favoured candidates as an n800 companion. I use a Nokia 6820 (which also has this kind of keyboard) for 3 years now and I still love it. The E70 has the same keyboard solution, but there are very good chances that it could be used as HID keyboard for the n800!! The 6820 opens a new note editor as soon as you unfold the keyboard, which is very useful, but the E70 would just pair with the n800 - the absolutely perfect solution.

The E70 cannot be used as a HID keyboard.

I've searched for over a year now for a program enabling this functionality. As I haven't found one, I believe it is impossible to do this with S60 3rd Edition.

EDIT: A possible solution for using E70 as keyboard is running x11vnc on the Tablet and VNC client on the phone. I tested this software today and found it working: http://developer.symbian.com/wiki/di.../P.I.P.S.+Home. However, VNC is not a secure protocol, there is no password set for maemo release of x11vnc and there's no firewall on the tablet. So this should not be used over unsecure wireless networks.

I think I have heard of OpenSSH for Symbian? Not sure.
I always run VNC (amongst laptop, desktops, and N800) over SSH. As for a firewall on the tablet, I really don't understand what that would accomplish in this case.
