This sounds like a good idea not only for openstreetmaps but also for the other repos.. right now if I zoom to level3 (for google maps) in my home area it can go into 'processing' for a loooong time and come out only with 'failed to download nnn maps'.. I believe it's simply because there are no maps. In such cases it would be better to simply double-pixel it and not try to download.

Wow, I just got an n800 and this program is awesome. However, for long trips its telling me that it'll take up a ton of data to download it beforehand. If I was to tether it to my Treo, would that mean it would eventually end up downloading the same amount?

Also, a little unrelated... I'm shocked at how well OpenStreetMaps has my state (Massachusetts) mapped out compared to the rest of the US, I wonder why that is.

Maemo Mapper 2.0.3 on my N800 (OS version 4.2007.38-2) disappears (i.e crashes) when I try to open a previously saved track file. (See contents of RobbieNR.zip attached)

There's some people there mapping out the state. OpenStreetMap is all done be it's users.

I also noticed the above problem this weekend. I'm using MM2.03 on a N800 with a Holux 240 GPS receiver. (I'm just using the built in Bluetooth software.) After MM stalls, I have to reboot the N800. If I just quit MM and then restart it, MM will stall again. Aside from that, I found the map auto-rotation was great to use around town, while I preferred the fixed (North is 'up') orientation for long highway driving.

    Thanks for the great update.

I use my N800 and MM for geocaching. It's a very cool combo, and MM is a great program! However, there is one feature of my regular GPS that I miss in MM. If I try to do a 'as the crow flies' route (straight line) to a waypoint or POI on the GPS, it shows a line to where I'm supposed to be, and gives me the distance in feet to the point I'm aiming for. Is any of this possible in MM? I'd settle for the displayed distance, as that's the important thing.

Perhaps there should a be quick "set up" screen or something that kind of points total noobs in a direction to get up and going in the most basic way and have that screen only appear the first time the app is run.
There is a "Quick-Start" tutorial in the Maemo Mapper help file. When a user starts Maemo Mapper for the first time, it asks them if they want to start the tutorial. If you refuse, you can always access the tutorial from the Help button in the main menu.

Ok - i figured it out. I'm still having the bluetooth on before mapper issue. The problem didnt start until 2.X. Basically, I have to turn off my bluetooth phone before starting mapper or the gps fix will freeze. I can turn the phone on after I get a fix. I think my receiver is the BT-77?? I'm using the latest mapper 2.3.
