Yes may be is that, but i want it fix this.

out of this, it appears that this version works well, at least the most important, fsck, USB mass storage mode, and backup.

now why do not I get the menu where was the option to turn off the phone when he was not charged?

REQUEST: would be possible to put an option for a fsck to not make changes to the system, only to analyze the errors.
and when fsck is running see more more detailed Information?.

    like fsck -n -v -f ??

Were I the only one to have problems in starting mass storage mode after connecting the n900 to a host computer through usb, after having used backupmenu 0.61?
Everybody please test so we can help refine the app!

speaking of which, I'd like you guys to do some testing for me:
    1. Boot into backupmenu, plug in a powered USB port. Wait 15 seconds for the backlight to go brighter, and reboot the unit.
Expected result: Device may not charge when in Maemo and plugged into USB.

    2. Boot into backupmenu, plug into usb. Once the backlight becomes brighter, unplg USB and wait for it to get dim again, THEN reboot into maemo.
Expected result: Hopefully charging works again. Let me know if it does/doesn't.

    3. after completing the above tests, if USB charging still doesn't work, follow the instructions here.
Expected result: Charging should work again.

Let me know what happens with each of those test-cases.

hum, I go through the "offline" charging mode after pressing the q key, then after rebooting "by hand", the phone charged normally once in maemo. If I unplug the usb cable immediately after pressing the q key, maemo is booted, and the charging start as normally when the usb cable is plugged in again. Have I understood correctly what to do ?

    Charging works like expected.

One small note, There are a missed dependency with libacl1 when installing backupMenu on a virgin PR1.3, I had to do an apt-get for that package (otherwise I get an error while starting backupmenu)

    Regards,

    First, thanks for the help.

    Second, can you try this:
Immediately after it begins charging in BM(backlight is brighter), close the keyboard, unplug the USB cable, then depress the hold switch to restart.
    See what happens.

As far as libacl, I'm thinking it's not required, but is in the list of loaded files.I'll probably remove it next version.

Ok, once in maemo, as soon as I put the usb plug in, the device start charging.

    Regards,

    ps: I'm with a quite virgin n900, pr1.3 + only power-kernel + Community_SSU installed

I suppose that explains why more people aren't complaining...
    Interesting.

Yes, I believe all n900 distributed out there are not equal, or not from the same "revision". Or maybe there are other, less obvious reason (usb cable / usb host ??).

Anyway, my n900 seems to always charge as expected, I've more difficulty to make it boot to GUI and not going in offline charging mode...

Today I decided to try again ver 0.62, and as I previously reported, usb mass storage mode refused to start thereafter when connecting through usb to my host computer.

Tried the manouver described by Robbiethe1st here, with battery at 65%. Mass storage mode didn't work after that, unfortunately.

Now trying my standard procedure to regain mass storage:
    1) first try with battery out for a long time (30 mins? 1 hour?)
    2) then if this doesn't work, reflash with stock firmware, then restore latest backupmenu, then reflash power kernel, then turn off and reboot (last time it worked).

EDIT: I was patient. Ninety minutes without the battery did the trick, and mass storage mode works again
