So I got my Mugen power 2400 mAh battery some days ago.
and this is what i've been seening so far.

First time i put the battery in, i charged it up to 97% (my battery widget never shows 100%)

February 3rd: I woke up at 06:00 at 97% battery, left for work, got to work at 08:00 and i had lost maybe 2 % battery(with some sms and quick talk.maemo.org surf)
Did some minor chatting on facebook chat on WIFI, left work with 89% battery, got home and did some modding and desktop changes on the n900, installs ect. Went to bed with 57% battery. (was on wifi for some hours while modding)

February 4th: Woke up at 06:00 with...yes... 57% , same as i went to bed with. (didnt charge overnight). By the time i got to work i had 56%, did some wifi surfing, sms, and some calls at work. left work at 14:00 with 44% battery. Got on the buss and did some 3g surfing on talk.maemo.org, while connected to the facebook chat. At the gym 1 hour after work (beeing on 3g and facebook chat, and sms 1 whole our after work). At the gym i had 39% battery life. switched of 3g and facebook chat. and left the phone in my locker. after 2 hours at the gym i was at 38% battery. went on the buss home and did some 3g , facebook chat, facebookphotouploader, and some minor surfing for 30 mins on the buss. got home with 30% battery at 17:45(-+). turned 3g and shut down the facebook chat. Now at 18:15 i checked my battery , and it went from 30% to 34%. and the phone was just been idle at the table.

So my conclusion is, the mugen battery fits me perfectly. On the stock battery it would not last 1 day , but now i can get 2 days with daily use of the phone. Though i should be mentioning that i run the N900 at 900mhZ at Lowvoltage profile the whole time. But still pretty amazing from the stock battery. And as im typing this, im still rocking 34% batterylife. (not been using the phone since I got home)

Thats just what i've seen so far, not really a good batterytest, but i just felt like sharing with you.

Yes i know i have the "upgraded" home edition dual Japod 2700mAh battery so i know how much more enjoyment i get now from my N900

but again as i stated in Post #2 i spent 27$ thats with mugen cover to make my battery that i have tested like all the other battery's on my list and i has 2763mAh so that 15% more capacity than a 100$ mugen XL battery.
The extra thing i also have over stock and mugen is my own charge port using a normal 2mm nokia plug, where i can charge with 2.5A (2500mA) which makes charging very fast, it takes about 35minuttes charging to charge up 1320mAh which is a stock normal battery

My usage also gets me about 2 days battery life.

Ayes, have seen your project ^^ Im not that thecy of me.. or well cant be that hard, but im lazy as **** and love my n900 so ill gladly spend another 100 on it. So baicly, if you dont want to do it yourself like Dr_frost_dk did, you can buy the mugen 2400 mAh and be sure youll not regret it.(thoug you migth use the phone more than me, on 2 days!!) you I will do some testing with the custom kernel voltage profiles and see how the battery behaves. Though my N900 wont do starving, but ULV works fine, ill give an update in some days.

This is very interesting and I didn't know until now that the physical limitations with todays battery technology is 1400 mA with a battery of this size.

According to them they use Chinese manufacture (SCUD) that work together with big companies such as Nokia and Motorola. They also claim to use lithium-cells of grade A type and that there batteries have double protective circuits.

I am also curious of what charger/discharger you are using, (manufacture brand).
I am thinking of maybe building a better charging station using the Japod BL-5J Replacement because it seems to me that the stock wall charger does a fair job combined with the built in BQ2415 charge chip but it could improve.

Also I would like to know, I have learned back in the days you used NIMh batteries for cellphones you should always charge the battery for 24 h before use. This because the battery would "grow" and preform better, is this also true for the LiIon battery ?

And how did it go with your fuse ? Did you find someone to replace it ? If not you could provide me with a picture of the fuses exact location on the circuit board maybe I can solder in a new. I use to chip Play station one and have done soldering of small surface mounted circuits before. I guess you live in Denmark and I work night there so maybe you live close.

Also found it here. Looks promising maybe this could be equal or better than the Japod battery. I think this one is really worth testing.

Could anyone who ordered the Japod battery from dealextreme tell me how long did it take to arrive in Europe, preferably UK? I ordered mine on 15th January, it`s been in the post since 21st Jan, so I`m just wondering whether it`s about the time to start kicking of I know they say 7 to 20 days for delivery, but the wall charger I ordered from Hongkong arrive within a week.

DX-delivery is always slow this time of a year because Chinese New Year.

1. That battery looks very interesting but im strapped for cash right now so it will be later.

2. The charger im using is an RC charger, i am building a computerized charge system, but all battery's will still be tested with the RC charger or the results will not match up.
Im using the same charger to charge my phone, look to the mod pictures (Post #2) to my nokia 2mm plug that i placed in the mugen cover.

3. You can't compare something as stupid as NiMH to LiPo, you don't need to charge your battery for 24 hours like in the old days, would recommend a full charge when getting the battery, put it in the phone an let it charge full and you don't need to do anything more.

4. Well i did the bad thing by soldering a wire in instead, and this is not good since it is not fast acting as the fuse would be, but i have stopped experimenting with the USB since then
I only use the USB for fast transfer of files vs SSH, and since i have both BT Mouse & Keyboard i don't even use H-E-N anymore.
I would like to have a real fuse in it again but have not been able to find a replacement fuse any where.

What's the physical size of the 2 A fuse (width hight length) ? Maybe I can help, and maybe a picture so I can see the design of the solder contacts.

I wasn't "stupid" comparing. As you and I already know the energy in a battery is a electrochemical reaction and you do get a better preforming battery after a long first charge in the Nickel-cadmium battery (NiCd) I just wanted to know if this could be achieved with a Lithium Ion battery. I now know that the instructing to charge the battery for 8 hours or more for the first time is a leftover from the nickel battery days.
Also the Li-Ion batteries age over time, regardless of whether they are used or not. A typical Li-Ion battery will last for a year and will typically need to be replaced in two years. I found information that a number of places on the Internet sell surplus Li-Ion battery packs. Many of these cells may have already past the two-year point at which their internal resistance prevents them from providing much of their energy,

I have done some reading Maybe the charge current of Li-ion should be moderate (0.5C)
The lower charge current reduces the time in which the cell resides at 4.20V. I read that a 0.5C charge only adds marginally to the charge time over 1C because the topping charge will be shorter. A high current charge tends to push the voltage up and forces it into the voltage limit prematurely.
