Hi there. I just recently purchased a new headset. It is supposed to announce the callers name when a phone call comes in, but it is not working properly. It says that your phone must support pbap (phone book access profile) or opp (object push profile). I am using the blueant T1 headset. I contacted Nokia's tech support and it's a joke. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I can't speak for the N900 but that profile is extremely rare to find in phones. You'll be lucky if you can take advantage of that on any platform.

I have a bluetooth icon which supports the same thing, unfortunately the N900 does not (unless I'm mistaken). All I got was the number announced in my ear, never the name.

I am 100% sure that N900 supports opp.

Just go the directory where you downloaded 2 .deb files and run(as root)

    Code:
    dpkg -i libopenobex2_1.5_armel.deb
    dpkg -i obexd2_0.35-0maemo1_armel.deb
PS. You can use TAB so you don't have to write manually file's name. Just write first 2-3 letters and press TAB(ctrl+i).

Have you installed rootsh? It enables you to get root access on your N900, if you haven't then install it from the App Manager first. Then in the Terminal type
    Code:
    sudo gainroot
    dpkg -i MyDocs/.documents/libopenobex2_1.5_armel.deb
    dpkg -i MyDocs/.documents/obexd2_0.35-0maemo1_armel.deb
