Try increase the txpower from 21 gradually.

I don't know the channel maximum but normally it'd warning you with 'Operation not permitted' if you set it too high. For your reference, some home/office routers has at least 35 dBm.

Some older phone would set the txpower so high so as to ensure link stability at the expense of battery life, as the manufacturers don't expect users having a very long WiFi usage with their phones. N900 has really chosen quite a low txpower setting.

so, each time I connect, I should increate txpower to 35 ?

Sorry I got it wrong with your question. In your case you might want to check with the admin whether the power-saving in the router is enable. I found that if it does, the connection would be dropped even when you turn off N900's power-saving.
