    Looking bright, ain't it?

Nokia/Elop: "Mayday...Mayday....Mayday!!! We're all standing on a burning platform. Is there anyone out there?"

Cue the sound of the M$ outboard motor coming from the distance *Developers..Developers...Developers...Developers......

    M$/Ballmer: "Aaaaaallllll aboooaaaaard!!!!!!"

Nokia/Elop: "My old mate Steve! I knew someone would save us, but who better than you"

Motorboat pulls away from the burning platform:
    *Developers....Developers....Developers....Developers*

In the far distance we hear a blood curdling scream:

"F*****G HELL!!!!! THIS BOAT IS SINKING!!!!!!"

    LOL

It is really embarassing. I mean everybody was talking "Qt Qt Qt" for almost 3 years. And people finally believed in it, I mean who did not download the Qt SDK 1.1 tech preview?

Elop may go down in history as the most ******ed CEO ever.

If Meego is not dead already, then this message from Elop has killed it. Why would a rational developer want to invest time and money in Meego or QT if they know that Nokia considers Meego to be a side project? Microsoft will be very happy to see Meego die. I am sure this will end bady. Elop's analogy of the burning platform is apt - the man diving into the water to escape the flames had to be rescued by someone else.

What I dont understand is why Win 7? And why not Android?

Android could have been used to replace Symbian, QT ported over to Android and Nokia could then have Android and Meego phones with Qt compatible apps for both

Seems like N900 will be my last Nokia phone

From what I've seen thousands of company's/spammers are gearing up to take advantage of Google's ad.................. Wait! Just seen this: Nokia to build ad serving machines?

WebOS it is then. (If they don't go that route too).

Well yes but why continue to be loyal to your old company?
This may be the most idiotic decision by any CEO ever... did no one try to argue with him?

Where the hell is my MeeGo device? One "by the end of 2011"? I'd love to believe that but it was previously hinted as being Q1 2011.

Many people have [rightly, IMO] twisted the "burning platform" analogy into something resembling the truth (i.e. WTF is going to happen to MeeGo and Qt and all the people who worked on/trusted in that?)

...and the analysts are now directing every action at Nokia. I've been a Nokia zealot (yep, sure, fanboy, whatever) for ten years, but I'm really struggling to find the silver lining here.

I think I speak for a number of us when I say: AAAAAAUUUURRGH!
