I can see a company like HTC jumping on this as an opportunity. They would be pissed off that Microsoft brought Nokia into their little Windows phone arrangement.

well, if the alien dalvik thing works out well, could there be a possibility that something similar to samsung bada might materialise. If anyone doesn't know Samsung Bada runs on their wave mobile phone. It's their own UI that boots up but it runs android stuff. It's really just a tweaked android thingy, but some manufacturers might see the benefit of an easier to use operating system like meego that you can boot up, and users can then just use it like an andoid just like other handsets they make. On the other hand, for those users who want to tinker they can peel back the android skin and delve into the meego stuff on there properly.

Yeah I'd buy an Atom-powered smartphone if it can run MeeGo. II'd prefer an ARM-based CPU but I could settle for an Atom if there are no other good options.

Nokia Meego was basically Harmattan anyway (they were not using the, Intel developed, reference UX apps at all), so this has no day to day significance to Intel.

Meego will succeed as a customizable distro for systems like set top boxes and cars, but I wouldn't expect it on a phone anytime soon.

Someone like HTC could make a go of it; they seem to have a very effective hardware adaptation team.

Someone should order core engineering from Aavamobile and start making Meego devices.

Well what else would Intel say?? They have obviously invested a significant amount of time and cash in MeeGo. They will want some sort of return for their part. I think reading between the lines that thay are furious with Nokia but obviously putting on a stern frontal to try and save face. If someone else does not pick this up like HTC then MeeGo will be dead in the water before its naming ceremony.

With that one strike, the best hardware manufactures is gone! Now, who can step-up and replace that?
