Sharing files between Vista and N800 in private home network

So I've got a computer running Windows Vista Ultimate (multiboot with openSUSE 10.3) and I want to share my files between the computer and the N800. Or I mean, I want to be able to stream media from the computer and also perhaps copy&paste files thru the filemanager to the N800.

Yesterday I finally got my wifibox working. It's hooked to my computer over USB. For some unknown reason WPA encryption resulted in N800 cutting the connection (thou not informing it in any way) in a matter of seconds. Either way, WEP seems to work.

Now in Windows Vista I've enabled file sharing and media sharing and checked the "share my media to" box for the N800, thou it's not called "N800", just "unknown device" but the mac address matches so all should be in order?

When I go to the file manager in N800 I see my computer (well most of the time at least) and it lists 4 folders: Music, Video, Pictures, Playlists. The thing is, there's no media what so ever inside these folders. Just other folders like "All Video", "Folders", "Rating", "Series", "Video Actors" and such (thou at other times there are no folders inside the 4 main folders). However all these folders are empty.

    What am I doing wrong?

edit. Playlists\All Playlists gives me real playlists.. however when I try to play a song thru 'em nothing happens. Songs don't begin to play. For a second media player application says connecting, but that's it.. nothing else.

edit2. but apparently I am able to copy&paste files

edit3. the filemanager seems to crash awful a lot as well when I do this. I wonder if the N800 just can't handle big collections?

You should go to Network & Sharing and check all of the settings, Sometimes, parts of vista will override other parts of vista.

Also check to see if the firewall is blocking your n800.

Don't give up, it does work...I'm streaming from my music collection on my vista machine right now.
