Well if you talk about Mobile Hotspot then you have to install the Tita Kernel first, just use the search function in this forum.

Does anyone know why the version of the power kernel that is distributed with the custom wifi drivers doesn't work wifi Mobile Hotspot? They are both power46, but I can only get the wifi hotspot version of Mobile Hotspot to work with the normal power46. Otherwise my laptop / desktop keep trying to connect to the wifi network, and never succeed.

I know other users who have similar issues, just use the normal power kernel for now till the issue has been sorted out.

I am using the power kernel but wifi tethering does not work. I just get "Failed to start" with no further context every time I try. USB tethering works great.

    Any ideas?

For me mobilehotspot is working perfectly in terms of the app functioning.

However my PS3 does not pick up the network. When I try to connect to the internet wireless, mobilehotspot does not show up in the scan, alot of other access points do.

My PC does pick it up though, it detects the mobilehotspot wireless network immediately and when I click connect, within 20 seconds I can browse the web, download etc.

Is there any reason why my PC can see the mobilehotspot signal but my PS3 cannot?

The only difference is that my PC is using a Belkin USB Adapter and the PS3 is using its built-in adapter.

I dont see why that should matter. Any help please would be greatly appreciated.

MHS creates and Ad-Hoc -mode network, your pc probably creates infrastructure-mode one. N900 wifi driver (which is closed) cannot handle infratsructure mode (the hardware should be able to do it but for that we would need to be able to reverse-engineer and patch the driver which is so difficult and major undertaking that you might as well call it impossibel)

I understand what you mean. Well since MHS creates an Ad-Hoc mode network, and the Playstation 3 can connect to Ad-Hoc mode networks, they should be able to connect to each other.

When I choose the ad-hoc mode option in the PS3, it asks me to push some sort of button on the ad-hoc device, so how will I connect n900 to PS3 via Ad-hoc mode?

is there anyway to configure mobile hotspot so that you can get your pc to connect to your n900? i.e. it doesn't open up a gprs connection but sends dhcp data to the pc and hey presto.. instant network for transferring files etc. no messing about with ip addresses etc?
