But, with WiFi Power save activated, to generate data going OUT wakes up the WiFi and makes it send things so if you're trying to connect to something, this should not be a problem.

Sometimes I need to use ping in an XTerminal first, to then start the browser and get data. I'm guessing this is a combination of power save and high latency in the network.

Play around a little and see what happens. Rebooting is not the answer...

how do i ping in an Xterminal??

im a bit confused what this is or how to do it

Goto Settings, Internet Connections, Connections, pick the connection that you use, for example, home.
Then hit Edit and keep hitting Next until you see Advanced, its going to be under the "Other" tab. I've set mine to "Intermediate" and it seems to be zipping through websites. Battery isn't bad either.

Sadly, you need to be root to use ping, which forces you to install rootsh. I have no idea why the busybox behaves like this but that's just the way it is.

Then you start an XTerminal, become root ("sudo gainroot" or just "root") and type
Code:
ping www.google.com
If your network connection is working as it should, you will see answers. If your network is unreachable you will get a message telling you so. If you have DNS problems, you will be told that it's not possible to resolve the name.

With ping running in the XTerminal, start your browser (Ctrl + backspace, tap application widget in top left corner, start browser) and try to open an URL.

If all is well, you should now have awakened the WiFi module and reach the site. If not, you need to look at what ping tells you.
