Dear Nokia developers,
I would like to ask if you could release OS2008 beta to the wide opensource community. We strongly believe that we could both benefit from the QA, bug hunting and support for new software that our community can give.

We thank you for producing the n770,n800 and now n810 IT running GNU/LINUX. GNU/Linux opensource operating system is being build in the believe that the work of a community with no interest other than to help and create better software can't be matched by the effort of a few.

In the spirit of " The catedral and the bazaar" I beg you please release OS2008 to the community and we will all enjoy a better final release.

Yours,
A happy N800 holder and Linux fan.

They already said no, and your arguments don't really hold up. Wait for IT2008 to be ready.

my arguments do not hold up?
I assume that most of the people that bought these devices without any PIM software bought it cause it runs linux and you can get a terminal and write your own software or modify what you got.

And you can do that without asking for an IT2008 update. Just let them release it. Releasing a beta would just slow things down right now with bug reports on bugs already fixed.

FWIW, I totally concur with zerojay on this, as a software developer myself. Wrong time to release a beta, just before the actual release.
