Yeah, of course the situation is annoying. I can only guess that the board got so scared about losing market share that they decided to bet on Microsoft. Here are estimates from respected analyst Tomi Ahonen of the smartphone market shares, although it must be said that this takes into account the MS-deal i.e. it's time before the first NoWin-phone. But of course the trend of Nokia losing market share has been downward.
Brand . . . . . . . . . . . Q4 2010 . . . . . . . . Q4 2011
Nokia . . . . . . . . . . . 28% . . . . . . . . . . . 12%
Apple . . . . . . . . . . . 16% . . . . . . . . . . . 19%
RIM . . . . . . . . . . . . 14% . . . . . . . . . . . 18%
Samsung . . . . . . . . 11% . . . . . . . . . . . 14%
HTC . . . . . . . . . . . . 10% . . . . . . . . . . . 12%
SonyEricsson . . . . 5% . . . . . . . . . . . 6%
Motorola . . . . . . . . . 5% . . . . . . . . . . . 5%
Others . . . . . . . . . 11% . . . . . . . . . . . 13%

I suppose MeeGo is still some kind of future plan for Nokia, but probably coming months will tell how much money they are going to give it.

Not picking a fight; however with that sentence in mind, you'd think that they'd push Maemo (they didn't) and MeeGo would be completed. I mean, talking about having an high-end OS and delivering it - and if your fate is in your own hands - they should have done much better than gotten themselves in the position they're currently in.

Well 300 million is for meego AND QT development. And the key word is relative as in relative to 1+ billion spent solely on symbian
And I would like to know where you read the Atrix boot loader was circumvented because the last few sentences of this disagree with you. http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/19/m...-even-out-yet/

Maemo while good was quite rough in a lot of areas that would matter to general consumers. Nokia was right to not push it in my opinion. Meego is what they moved to to get the polish for consumers so they wouldn't be taking the go it alone approach.
Just curious on how you thought they could they get meego ready in less then a 1 year time period? MS spent over a year on WP7 and don't really have it complete yet...

Rooted and system dumped and rooted reported here too... Designgears is the one that did it (follow him on Twitter) and custom firmware forthcoming.
And when it does, I might rethink moving to it.
