MicroB in the latest 2007HE reports itself as built on Firefox version 3.01a.

This seems odd to me as 3.01a was the first alpha release of FF 3.0 which was made almost a year ago. I think alpha 8 is out now, but the Mozilla folks warn against non-developers using that release, never mind alpha 1

Does OS2007 and OS2008 also report 3.01a?

The MicroB in OS2008 (leaked firmware) reports "Gecko/20071018 Firefox/3.01a"

Um, yes. OS2007HE actually reports "Gecko/20071001 Firefox/3.01a"

So this may be a case of not updating a build identifier rather than using an old baseline for the build.

Still, does anyone know if the current 3.0 Gecko engine is stable in non-tablet environments?

I am hoping that things might get better (more stable, faster) when FF 3.0 is finally released.
