It listen to some dbus signal:
Code:
com.nokia.mafw.extension::property_changed ("volume")
com.nokia.mafw.renderer::media_changed
com.nokia.mafw.renderer::state_changed (play)
com.nokia.csd.Call::Coming
com.nokia.csd.Call.Instance::AudioConnect
and sets the headphone volume to 100 using amixer if the N900 volume is at 100%

mmmm it seems that the process doesn't start at boot.
I tried now (a tester said it was working and I trusted him), I'll fix this issue (and also the 99% "bug") and release a new version as soon as possible.

So why is the volume restricted in the first place, to save power? Either way, sounds like a great daemon. Thanks.

I don't why Nokia decided to restrict the volume to 88...

Btw to start the daemon from the command line (until I fix the startup problem) open a terminal and
Code:
run-standalone.sh /usr/sbin/volumecontroldaemon &

Nice work man the daemon truly works, it's only the startup problem that needs to be fixed. Really appreciate this daemon!

It seems I fixed the startup problem (was just an "exec" missing), I just submitted the new version (0.1.1).
Will be available in half an hour (or so)...

Many thanks for the feedback.
Please report if it is really working after the update.

EDIT: Also the 99% "problem" should be fixed in the new version.

It's a fairly standard thing to do nowadays:
http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleases...guiLanguage=en

Basically the companies are worried about people suing them for damaged ears, so they deliberately limit the headphone output volume.
