I forgot to "cd /and" and now I think I have a whole bunch of Android junk in my root directory. Can anyone help me with a list of directories I need to delete?

    Hi all!

    Help!

I took a deep breath and gave this a try - with terrible results, I'm afraid...

I've found incomplete, inaccurate and/or outdated instructions everywhere, and that might have been one of the problems. I'm certain another problem was deciding to give it a go anyway, without asking for help first (and right before going to sleep)!

Hoping that it's not too late, I ask for your help to solve the mess I got myself into.

    Here's what I did:
    • Formatted my 2GB card following the wiki article N900-install
    • Downloaded and installed multi-boot and NITDroid
Now, when I turn on my N900, I see the multi-boot menu with just one option: "1 - NITdroid on MMCp2 - 2.6.28.NIT.05". I didn't change the ITEM_NAME and ITEM_KERNEL variables when setting up multi-boot (doh!), so I guess that's what causing the following error:

Sounds quite easy to fix, BUT:
    • There's no option in multi-boot for stock / power kernel boot
    • The USB port of this device came out recently, so I can't reflash it! (double doh!)
I feel like I locked myself out of my house... how do I get in, now?

You can use WinRAR (and probably other utilities) to see the list of files from the NITDroid-0.0.9.tar.bz2 package. You can also create a report using Tools -> Generate report (Alt+G).

Unfortunately, you have native directories (and also files) in your N900 with the same name on the bz2 package, so don't just go deleting stuff!

A quick comparison of my phone contents with the bz2 file shows that only the directories below can be safely removed:
    • /cache
    • /config
    • /lost+found
    • /mnt/asec
    • /mnt/secure
    • /mnt/secure/staging
    • /mnt/secure/asec
    • /mnt/sdcard
    • /mnt/initfs
    • /mnt/tmp
    • /sdcard
    • /system

It also shows that many commands that seems to be just links to /bin/busybox, and also /bin/busybox itself might have been overwritten. If you can still exec most commands in /bin (like /bin/ls, /bin/uname, /bin/df, etc.), then you're fine. Otherwise, tell me and we'll try to fix that as well.

(Or just backup as much data from your phone as you can and reflash it...)

    I'd rather suggest backup/reflash too.

    Just read, understand and mount.
Mount wherever you installed your nitdroid, be it /home or an extra partition to /and.
