Still no maemo.org for me in the UK on Zen ISP... (Saturday 12:48 GMT)

Redundancy is needed if this was an unexpected outage, and better management is needed if this was planned maintenance (prior notice would have been nice).

I don't know what caused the last outage, but several previous problems had origins outside of maemo.org's control: they were upstream (in other words: Near or at their ISP). So it's not a question of investing in more iron (which I think they already did a while ago), they may instead need to look for alternative internet providers.

It shouldn't be outside their control, they should be hosted in multiple datacenters around the world.

Sure, but they're not actually Google-sized yet.. it's understandable that the site was established in just one place to start with. After all, that's how most sites, including commercial ones, are set up. At work we only have a single site, for example, and we've had network interruptions maybe three or four times over the last ten years. The maemo.org ISP sounds flaky.
