Had that since I bought it, it randomly doesn't wake me up. Subsequent alarms don't work because alarm window is modal.

This stinks to high heaven, but not CSSU's fault. I admit the behavior changed slightly at some point, in early days of CSSU. But it was back. Maybe it was temporary, maybe it was a glitch.

Yet another thing I expect N900 to be able to do. Really, alarm, how hard is that?

You can try with a 'solution' from HERE. While it was not meant to fix the A2DP, the collateral benefit, at least in my case, was that it made the N900 work with my car's inbuilt BT system much nicer, especially when auto-connecting. Prior to that, in one out of three attempts it would fail to auto-connect, and even when it succeeded, in most cases only the controls for the phone part would work, while the car would complain that others (pause/play, next, previous...) are not supported by the device. After installing those the only problem I still get is that sometimes it won't go to previous song (instead it starts playing the current one from the start), it doesn't stop the audio when the car disconnects and on rare occasions my N900 doesn't ring or throw any kind of audio notification after I pause the audio via BT (which I do prior to getting out of the car so that the sound doesn't continue playing when the car's stereo turns off). But apart from that, the connection and especially auto-connection are working flawlessly and effortlessly.

Didn't fix the PBAP profile, tho, even if it was meant for it...

I really hope this works.. im gonna try tonight.

I still wonder what causes the n900 to completely reboot... that it does not connect, Ok! but reboot on connection... thats strange. also because when connected manually it doesnt crash at all.

IMHO:

1. This effort absolutely deserves it. I think CSSU is the most important project being developed right now for the n900.

2. This thread moves too fast and many different topics are being discussed in a single thread. That makes this thread hard to follow.

Right after creating the forum, general -sticky- threads can be created to include general info, links to wikis, etc.
I'm not sure we need a separate "folder" within talk.maemo.org, but I agree it might be useful to split things up into separate threads. For example, a thread for hildon-desktop enhancements, one for Modest, another for the Media Player re-write, and so on.

Just a quick update, version: maemo13.
This is only an update for hildon-desktop actually:
  • Added global zoom in/out support, use CTRL+SHIFT+S (+) and CTRL+SHIFT+F (-) to zoom in and out.
  • Added orientation lock, you'll see an applet in the status menu.
  • The press effect (zoom_on_press) was improved, it'll now depress only when you release the screen.

Just received it

Edit : Lock applet for rotation is very practice, but I noticed that Contacts and SMS don't rotate anymore, don't see all the rest for now.
Oops ! maybe I forgot to edit transitions.ini file ^^
Edit 2 : Works like a charm !!!

I've been able to read ~5% of this HUGE thread. Apologies for the crudeness of this listing. These are items that bother me with the stock system. Is this the venue to request refinement??

################################################## #######################
Refinements needed to existing system====================================
================================================== =======================
MicroB - improvements/BugFixes needed:
....Print WebPage to PDF
........E.g. reciepts
........Like FireFox!!
...."jump to top of WebPage" command
....Increase Font Size and re-flow
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clock: World clocks - improvements/BugFixes needed:
....Sortability. Insert new clock between already defined clocks
....Formatable to: YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM :CityName
....See "World Time System Tray"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contacts - improvements/BugFixes needed:
....Allow input of: +1(213)555-2869
....Manage Extension Numbers
........E.g. +1(213)555-2869 Ext. 123
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Calendar - improvements/BugFixes needed:
....Events to minute: E.g. ISS visible 19:38 - 19:42
....Manually set TZ { TZ(Calendar) != TZ(System) }
........"Back Home" TZ for Calendar, but Stellarium, Orrery, and mClock still have correct System TZ
........Allow "Update automatically" setting
....Properly manage bi-weekly & bi-monthly meetings and exceptions
........Allow deletion of individual meeting in, e.g. bi-monthly series
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mail For Exchange - improvements/BugFixes needed:
....WebPage is copied to Business Home Page when Syncing
....Recurring events Sync to N900 as 00:00 to 23:59 instead of "All Day"
....Sync Hermes obtained Contact pictures to Outlook Contacts
....Sync Update of Contacts "re-sets" sort order (Last,First -> First,Last)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maps - improvements/BugFixes needed:
....Fix opening Maps from Contacts
........"Unable to open Maps. Address may be invalid"
....How do I save (e.g. Home, Work) as listed place
........continually re-entering addresses VERY VERY poor
....How do I re-calc. route and time remaining without re-entering everything
........If driver asks "how much further"
........Esp. poor if re-entering address you looked up (and don't remember)
....needs traffic as per Google Maps?
################################################## #######################

If so: Thanks for your attention.
If not: apologies for the wasted bandwidth and clutter
