Those who have an original Navicore Personal 2007 licence – it is still valid even if it has expired with Wayfinder – I’ve tried it and it works !

The downside is that you have to reflash with os2007 to install Navicore 2007.

Just enter your licence key and the server will honor it.

I don’t know if it will work for licences that were issued specifically for Wayfinder , but it may be worth a try.

Navicore has all the features that Wayfinder has except no time limit !

It was a clever way for the new owners of Navicore to make more money.

I think the Navicore/Wayfinder navigation on the Tablets are still an excellent system.

Ok, the maps may not be up to date, but very little has changed in four years.

Remember that you can manually update speedcams and Pios.

The Navicore aready has built in the capability for live traffic updates and dynamic rerouting. My next project may be to build a server for this and point the ‘update traffic info’ to this.

It would be good if we could get it to work on os2008. I tried installing it on os2008 and it confirmed that the installation was successful – It even gave me a pretty Navicore icon on screen , but tapping it did nothing .I think it could just be the path to execute needs configuring.

I have uploaded the Navicore 2007 .deb here- (see post further down) Would be great to get it working on os2008 – Who needs Wayfinder !

This package is not the navicore application, it is just the desktop applet. It will run the Wayfinder application.

It is the application.I have a n800 with os2007 and it loads fine on that.On my n810 with os2008,it does as you say and loads the wayfinder map.You will need to reflash with os2007 or we need to find a way to get it working on os2008.

Apologies ! I should have realised the file size.It seems the data was stripped when I installed it on my n800 and just left the applet which I used for the upload. This may be the reason it won't load on os2008 (I hope).Give me some time to compile a new .deb to upload.

You can download Navicore .deb and the all important Navicore folder here - https://vstuff.virginmedia.com/n/50-...4d57b333bfdb2/

I have tried it in os2008.It says it is loading, but does not.It may just need a few tweeks to get it going.

I posses the original Navicore application and license, yet when tried the solution you described above, the server still complains my license has expired as it does with Wayfinder.

Perhaps your license has never been used with Wayfinder so it hasn't been updated to the limited licence?

So I'm in the same position.

I had a Wayfinder license, which I was pretty sure was unlimited, but isn't. I found it the hard way: I needed navigation and it was not working.

I investigated and the license expired around February 2011.

Of course I would be very happy to have wayfinder back in a usable state, since using online navigation is not an option for me...

Of course getting the 7 days trial over and over again is not an option (does it work without getting online?)

Please do not post more 'It's dead, Jim' posts. It may be dead, but this is computer science, not medicine ;-)

Edit: I only have a n810 right now.
Edit2: I would also pay another 3 yrs extension if someone would provide it...

I initially used the licence with wayfinder (with 3 years limit)on my n810.I deactivated this and used it on my n800 running os2007 and the navicore 2007 application, which gave me unlimited use.
Have you deactivated it in wayfinder?
Are you running os2007 and the Navicore 2007?
    It should work !

You can still reflash N810 with os2007. Can you live without os2008?

It would be a problem. Opera stops working, fbreader would be ancient... backups won't work I would have to restore anything by hand.
Yet if it's the only permanent solution...
