There seems to be a problem with this feature and CSSU ... Since I installed it, I can't get rid of the shortcut backgrounds anymore. Ticking or unticking changes nothing.

Yeah. I have read that there are some compatability issues between cssu and theme customizer. Must be one of the issues.
