I actually LOVE that feature of the "Blip" sound while still in the same conversations window. I wish they implemented that in other phones such as my Blackberry.
It's really annoying getting the full text tone every few seconds when you and the other contact are exchanges messages really fast.
And yes, just minimize it if you want that full sound. But that "blip" sound is the best thing that ever happened in the threaded conversations world. Why it's only on Maemo baffles me.

After installing and removing various programs I too had this problem and had never noticed it in 12 months of owning the phone. I thought I was going to have to perform my first reflash, which I was a bit reluctant to do.
