Hello, my USB is partially broken.

I'd like to know if it'll be possible to upgrade to the future MeeGo without USB?

    No.

Besides, "future MeeGo" is pointless for normal users, you're better off using Maemo.

Sadly, after some 15 months of stress, falling, collisions... finally yesterday my N900 USB jack became loose, showing problems when charging or connecting via USB.

    *Sigh!*

It's out of warranty. What to do?

As you're in Italy, you should have the standard EU 2-year warranty.

    Hi,

Since last week my N900 is not charging with the wall charger, nor with the external battery that Nokia shipped with my phone (Spain), but it does charge when connecting it to my PC.

The USB port of the phone seems loose, but I can't understand why the phone charges when connected to the computer and not when connected to the charger. So, I'm not 100% sure it is broken. Maybe it is a software problem. I don't know.

    What do you think?

I guess I should call Nokia support.

I am in Perth if that makes a difference to what Nokia Care is likely to do (and how long it might take)
my gf's port fell out took 3 weeks for it to be repaired and when she got it back it was a new fone with her old back cover

didnt have any problems with it either all went smoothly

also i just put her battery in my fone to charge it up then she backed up her stuff so if u know of any1 else with an n900 just do that

for the people out of warranty would they still be able to get it fixed for free as its a common fault, and poorly manifactured???
doesnt nokia still have a duty to fix certain problems?

When I was in Bangkok my phone's USB started having intermittent problems with charger and PC connection.

Turns out it was just humidity inside the phone, so before anyone sends their phone away (esp. if the port doesn't seem loose), please try putting the phone in a sealed bag of rice overnight to absorb any moisture inside it

Also, I recommend filing down the 2 teeth on thee charger and data cable MicroUSB connector, so that it comes out without pulling on the port..
