my favorite apps are sort of listed in order (not saying these are the best or newest as i probably dont even know what the lastest 200 aps are)
in no particular order (except fapman first to dl the rest of the apps)

these are my must have for general phone usage
1; fapman - 1000^1000 times better than the std application manager
    2. alarmed - (to reset my data counter each month)
    3. personal dataplan monitor - monitors my data usage
    4. tweak flash plugin - lets me watch videos on facebook where i cant without it and probably lots of others i dont know about
    5.rootsh
6.openssh-(and winscp for the pc) easiest way to edit files for customizing, backing up etc
    7. adblock plus - plugin for maemo browser
8.calendar home widget -fixes everything the calendar widget should have
    9. flashlight
    10. Enhanced Linux Kernel For Power Users

    then my personal favorites
battery graph - checks for high cpu usage on idle to alert me to problems
    connect now widget
    rdesktop
    cute explorer
fennec (firefox) for my desktop bookmark syncs
    leafpad
    fmms

    MY DONT'S
flash light extra - causes excessive battery usage

Really? Have been using it forever... Should i remove it? I think it's quite handy just sliding the camera lens and choose wether to use camera or flashlight...

I've had the Flashlight utility installed for a few months as well and haven't noticed any increased battery usage...apart from when I turn it on at least

You should look at running PalmOS medical apps inside Garnet VM. There are lots of medical apps for PalmOS.
