    Way better than mediatomb, thanks

Daemonization and settings applet would be sweet.

This builds a separate database that you have to *explicitly* provide the locations to crawl. Again, this doesn't touch anything near related to tracker indexing.

You don't need a "settings" applet. It provides a web interface already.

I have managed to set the folders etc okay, but still cannot start it without using sudo gainroot first or i get the error as someone else also does on the previous comments. Tried the "A" thing and still cannot see it on another devices. it has an IP of 192.168.0.2 not 127.0.0.1 so that is okay I think if I read the FAQ right?

BRILLIANT!!! Thank you hawaii. Works as advertised.

Perhaps I missed the .xml setting but adding shares is disabled in the web-interface. Can one enable it, or is that a compile time option?

this program is great, thanks for porting it for us hawaii, i really hope someone packages a nice gui/desktop shortcut for it.

i found the instructions a bit vague at first when i encountered problems so i did a noob guide, hope it helps someone.

go to the download page linked on hawaii's first post.
save the .deb to MyDocs, don't use app manager to install
    open xterm
    Code:
    sudo gainroot
    dpkg-i /home/user/MyDocs/fuppes_0.660-1_armel.deb
    apt-get -f install
    once its installed close xterm
    open xterm again
    Code:
    /opt/bin/fuppes
once the program starts it will try to detect your ip address, if it says it doesn't make sense you have to input the ip address of your n900 on your home network, probably starting with 192.168.....
if it fails to bind at this point the ip may be wrong, it'll keep exiting and you'll have to edit the .cfg file manually,
however if it does work the program will run in xterm, check the address of the web app that will pop up here, (your ip with a random port) leave xterm running, open microb and copy that address in to get the web interface.
enter the paths of your media folders here, eg. /home/user/MyDocs/Music
go back to xterm and press u to update media.
press a to make the n900 visible.
now you can use your ps3 or whatever to stream your media.
once you're finished press b in xterm to close connections and q to quit fuppes.

once its succesfully installed you only need to run it
    Code:
    /opt/bin/fuppes
    and press a each time.

Thanks for that Festivalnut, however I am still having to type sudo gainroot to start the app otherwise it just comes up with the error i stated previously in this thread. Despite pressing a it still cannot be seen on my laptop media player etc.

I have the correct router address in the app also

i'm completely guessing here so dont shoot me if i'm wrong, but the reason i mentioned to exit xterm after install and before first use is because you install as sudo, but want to run as user, just incase the program creates config files on first run, if you're still sudo it may create files that need sudo permissions. you may want to try removing and re-installing if this is the case, but i really cant think of anything else for it.

Funny I did just that and still same problem.

    Uninstalled using dpkg -r fuppes
    opened x-term types sudo gainroot
    then type dpkg -i filename.deb
    then apt-get -f install

all installed again still doing same thing?

When I do get it work using sudo-gainroot i can see it on my laptop in Network devices but not in any app, like media player which I can see my Upnp Synology server in okay?
