Yes - hopefully that'll clear up why it's trying to auto-remove it (or at least prevent it from doing so).

have you installed used MaeModder to install custom hildon packages, or have you pinned anything?

hildon-desktop_kinetic_2.2.140-1+0m5 , is it the latest version of hildon-desktop ?

Check if you have hildon-desktop pinned in /etc/apt/preferences. If you do, delete the file and try again. If not, just let apt do its thing and reinstall cssu after its finished.

Not from CSSU, no - that's 2.2.142.

you need to remove the modified-hildon-desktop that MaeModder installed. It doesn't play nice with CSSU.

No problem. Just uninstall the MaeModder modified-hildon-desktop - see my previous post.
