I have Maemo PR1.2 on my N900 and I am having trouble installing various applications. For example if I try installing FM RDS Notify I get the message "Conflicting application packages"

How can I solve this?

I try upgrading N900 but I can't because it needs Nokia PC Suite to work and even though I have the N900 connected to the PC with Nokia PC Suite recognizing N900 and the N900 in PC Suite Mode it doesn't work.

I do get the
N900(PC-Suite Mode) connected via USB
message on my PC.

That just means you've got some conflicting packages (openarena & sdl-quake are often the culprits). See also http://wiki.maemo.org/Cannot_install_firmware_update for troubleshooting instructions.
