For what I know, the Opera's keyboard has some shortcomings? Don't know for sure but if they do port a new keyboard to Maemo 5 I'd recommend porting the one MeeGo uses. I've been testing it and it is, in my opinion, brilliant. Unfortunately there isn't an Opera-like hover for keys, don't know if it is even possible to implement it.

Oke, I just wanna know if there comes an other better portrait keyboard. fastsms is something like that, only it is too much, I only want a normal ( with maemo 5 styl/look) keyboard.

What is wrong with the FastSMSEvo which acts as a replacement for the default keyboard?

IMO its better then the stock maemo keyboard.

well, I heard that stock maemo keyboard is closed source. So if there was a new keyboard, it'll be a new replacement one like FastSMSevo

I can understand why some people wouldn't want to have FastSMSEvo as their main keyboard. Although I HAVE to agree that the portrait T9 is DA BOMB but I still feel it's responsiveness and loading time (especially if you do test and reboot your N900 as often as some of us do, then it'll definitely be an issue) during the first time around is kinda a big drawback.

So far, the default virtual keyboard is still quite usable to me. It can't beat the t9 in now way whatsoever... i reboot my device quite often and i just don't have the patience to wait for the loading of keyboards...

well.. that's just me

Nice, Its really nice what the developer of fastevo has made. I have my respects. I only don't like it.
Is there a way to contact the developers of the CSSU?
because I haven't gotten a reply on my question.( do they develop a new portrait keyboard)

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that MAG has replied to this question before. I think he said something like "You can use FastSMSEvo if you want portrait T9" and telling that default vkb is closed source. So I'm assuming he's not working on one

Try the IRC channel on the CSSU main wiki page, or wait and see what appears in the next update like the rest of us, as I assume if we do get full portrait mode then some kind of working keyboard will have to come with the update anyway.

The developers can't reply to every post on here as otherwise they would have no time to develope anything as they are all doing it in their own spare time.

Dear Jaffa, MAG, and other CSSu Developers,
I am requesting for a wiki page with status of CSSU development. What information should be covered within is:
  • What are you working on now?
  • Who is working on it?
  • What all are in your to-do list?
  • What all are in your won't fix list?

This is supposed to be an open development but yet we find here everybody waiting eagerly for the release with no idea what is happening behind it. A wiki page like that can also put to rest all these lingering questions about vkb, media player, etc.

IMO, such information may also help people easily see where they can contribute their talents/eexpertise, instead of staying back and wating as they do now...
