Just a quick brief guide on N11 for all assuming you already have a build installed:
Code:
root
cd /home/user/MyDocs
bzip2 -d n11_rc3.tar.bz2
cd /
mount /home /and
rm -rf /and/*
cd /and
tar xvf /home/user/MyDocs/n11_rc3.tar.bz2
dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-kernel-Mido.Fayad.deb

Unless BIG internet comes over to his place, we won't be able to see that sacred moment.

However the fact you don't understand what it is that makes n900/maemo so good despite all the crippling flaws you correctly mention heavily implies the N900 and maemo are not for you.

Have a good day.
Nitdroid wasn't made to be a primary OS for your N900, and this certainly isn't the aim of the project.
Nitdroid was made in order to provide the android experience to maemo users, in its very early builds. Soon development went rapid, and with no exaggeration, mad, until the big 0.0.8 was released.
In fact, Nitdroid makes me appreciate Maemo more and more. Can you find another OS in the market that would do such a thing?

Ok? I dont get it.

So I got a microSD card in the mail today, so I thought "Why not pass some time?".
Installed everything and this is my impression:
No thanks.

Nothing is "fluid" at all, the applications menu always scrolls back unless I swipe all the way across the screen.
Phone network doesnt work at all, I get "Error while searching for network".

Everything is tiny, but thats probably changable.
Without even SMS, I dont see much point in using this for anything longer than 30 minutes. Missed calls and such.

Did you use the auto-installer? Do you even know what version did you installed? Why didn't you install it to you internal memory? Don't you know it'll be a thousand times faster and snappier? If you have used the auto-installer, you probably installed a very old build of Nitdroid now.

hey ammyt,

Inspired by your enthusiasm and of this thread, I ran the commands above.
--
root
cd /home/user/MyDocs
bzip2 -d n11_rc3.tar.bz2
cd /
mount /home /and
-- no problem till now.

--
rm -rf /and/*
-- here is the problem. cannot remove /and/user directory. directory not empty.

Then i saw no icons on my maemo.

Afraid if i need to reflash.

Shut down and restart, the phone restarts again and again :| Is it because i didn't unmount /and? I turned my n900 off now. No maemo, no nitdroid I miss something big. Want it back soon :|
