hi, people

I' ve updated my n900 kernel to 2.6.28.10power46-wl1, and I need rt73 driver for asus wl 167 g. As can't find it, I tried to compile it with scratchbox and binaries but no result. Could someone fill and post it?
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

What? Why? We don't use that chipset on the n900

hi cap,

what do you mean with 'We don't use that chipset on the n900'?

My goal is to use external wifi device wl-167g with n900 through h-e-n. I tried several times to complile rt73 , but rt73.ko still causing kernel panic.

also there is a similar thread but for N800.

Ooooh. I see. Well does it do anything that the bleeding-edge wl1251 driver one can't do? Otherwise it might be a lot of effort. I'm sure people on the forums could help though, sorry I haven't dealt with compiling or porting wireless drivers by hand in years (And I've never looked back!)

Nothing more that wl1251 can do except, with wl-167 I can use an external antenna without tamper "the brick". Actually compile a module is easy with desktop linux distro, (just do that) but for strange reasons stratchbox won't help me. Perhaps binaries are wrong...
thanks anyway and good for you ("And I've never looked back"), you have saved many headaches.

Have you tried this patched driver from aircrack?

The problem is not the driver but how to compile it for the N900.

@chesh

first i used the rt73 driver from serialmonkey, and then retried with the ones of your link. The result is the same: i can build the rt73.ko file properly and load it with insmod. The asus device is recognized but no wireless interface is assigned. Based on working ubuntu driver and wl1251 of n900 wireless card, i found other modules that i might need, such as : rt2x00usb,rt73usb,rt2x00lib,mac80211,cfg80211,crc_ itu_t .
But have no idea how to procure them, or if the are really usefull.

@mega

compile module for n900 isn't so hard using scratchbox that emulate the ARM architecture

Wont using an external Wlan card with H-E-N reduce your battery life to an hour or less?

True, but to prevent this you can use an usb hub with external power supply. that is a cure not a solution.
