    How can I create larger (duplicate) home screen shortcuts?

    Reply
    southwalesboy | # 1 | 2010-07-04, 00:51 | Report

    Hi, i Would like to be able to have 1 of my home screens for use in the car. I find launching my sat nav or media player from my usual home screen shortcuts way to fidly when in a hurry at traffic lights etc. Is there a way to have 1 home screen dedicated for this use, with say 4 large short cuts that pretty much fill 1 home screen (ie a quarter screen each or there abouts), for my sat nav, media player, contacts and messages? I still want the original short cuts present on my other home screens also.

    Greatful for anyone that can help

    I checked it out, looks really quite complicated? Although it probably does the job, is there a more simple way? I just want a application shortcut about the size of the web page desktop bookmarks, Thanks

    No problem ... if you or someone else would like to give it a try ...

    Ready?!

    Preparation Steps:
    1. Download and Install Queen Beecon Widget (>=v0.1.4)

    2. Save icons/images attached to the post (or Download and extract zip file attached to the thread for your convenience) and store images in the specified N900 directory, create it if not existing. (Warning: inside the zip file there could be images with numbers appended to common graphic filenames extensions - ex. football-icon.png.3 - this is NOT an error!) - Do NOT save the following images as their filename will not be correct!

    3. Just drop them HERE:

    4. For SYGIC Make sure you copy the following Exported Instance Data to your phone's clipboard. (Do not modify anything as it is checksum protected and modifications will invalidate checksum!)
      See HERE for tutorial
      Code:
      [queen-beecon-header]

    Is this a joke or something (not at you, No!No!No!Yes!, this is to Nokia)...all these just to have duplicate shortcuts? Seriously? And you call this flexibility?

    when I first read that step by step i thought "what you must be mad", but I just did the whole process in less than 5mins, its actually hell of a lot easier than it looks. Thanks a lot i now have 4 large buttons exactly as desired! Many thanks mate

    and anyone thinking of doing this but put off my the "long" step by step, just do it, you will see that its actually really quick and easy

    I know it's an old post, but i need some help on this subject.

    I have made my own QB widgets/buttons, and made my own icons.

    I can't seem to make the icons appear on the QB buttons though.

    Where exactly do i need to put the images?

    Places i have tried are:

    /home/user/MyDocs/.images
    /home/user/MyDocs/.images/queen_beecon_dir/

    None of these seem to be working.

    Here is my QB code.

    If it matters, the icons i've made are 800x480 at the moment, i've not been near a pc to resize them to 399x211 yet.
    I've set the scaling to "fit" so it should shrink the image to the required size.

    Code:
    [queen-beecon-header]
    version=1.000000
    checksum=2446818
