So i recently re-flashed my phone using Nokia Suite with PR1.3 because i was having this connection issue where the:
1. "3.5" icon stays blue.
2. The bars wont change.
3. I cant make or receive calls (voice/data).
4. I can use wi-fi.

A few days after the re-flash I experienced the same thing. The only solution is ti restart. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi,
I'm having exactly the same issue and its only started in the last month or so. The only solution i've found is to keep the phone on GSM only (2g) and it doesn't happen. Not teally a realistic option but I hadn't got round tobtry reflashing yet.

It's an evil bug and no one has found a solution to it as far as I know.

The only way is to keep it on a 2G network as the bug only happens on 3G networks. Not an ideal solution but it works. I have a 2G/3G toggle icon in the applist that I press if I'm gonna do stuff on the net. 2G network is fast enough for mail and stuff here where I live. Even some surfing.

Reflash won't help.

If it helps at all,

My provider (vodafone au) has 2 apn's
vfinternet.au and live.vodafone.com
Live is supposed to be the new one but internet works better where I live.

Anyway, when I've had this issue, swapping from one to the other and back seems to resolve the issue. No idea how or why but maybe this can help figure it out.

Using Profilematic to switch to 2G at IDLE turned out to be a poor solution for me unfortunately :/
Once it had been set to 2G after being idle for 10min I found it could no longer receive calls...*
It wouldn't even ring, there'd just be a long pause & then the message bank service would kick-in.
I've no idea what that's all about, I assume my telco doesn't support 2G/GSM, it may be better with other towers, I've only tested it on the tower used at home.
Plus when it came out of idle it took quite some time for it to switch back to 3G, so I couldn't fast-dial a no. right away, & general usage was a bit sluggish.
I'm yet to try some other things linked-to in this post, if they don't work then I guess I'm screwed.

*the reception bars would usually (not always IIRC) have a red strike through them, & to the right it would say "Emergency calls only".

I have no idea why you have those problems. Guess you have no 2G network there or something. I have not had any problems as long as I used ProfileMatic.

I have stopped using it though since I don't need to toggle on 3G everytime I use the phone. I just toggle myself between 3G & 2G when needed. My phone switches to 3G in like 3 seconds so I barly notice any "downtime" when switching. And I don't really surf with it a lot so I'm on 2G most of the time.

Out at my girlfriends house on the countryside there are no 2G network available only 3G. It does not have any signal issue there though even though I have mostly 0-1 signal bars. There's only two 3G network ID's there and it never hangs there. It's just in town the signal can hang where there are a lot of 3G networks available.

What I have noticed though is that it doesn't drain less battery while on 2G. I have the same idle drain on 2G as 3G which surprised me a little bit.

For my use, I have only lost the signal once in three weeks. Doesn't bother me anymore really.

Hi guys

I had a similiar problems with my N9 recently. Since i bought it i was using it in a regular "Dual band mode". Few days ago the connection stopped working and what's even worst - i couldn't make or recieve calles. First i thought that i've installed to many things so i re-flashed and cleaned whole device. That didn't work. Then i obtained new internet settings from my operator (i noticed small difference in name of the connection). That didn't work neither.

Everything was working fine when i was switching to the 2G mode. Then i could slowly use internet and make calls.

Today i discovered that replacing in "Connection settings" APN with IP address solving the whole problem.

And now i have a question and maybe somene can put some light on this.

If that's a problem with DNS then why it works in 2G?

Thanks in advance
Bartek

cropas,

Did you try a change of micro-sim from your telco instead?

No. But i've been thinking about buing some new Pay'n'Go card and test it. But what i also did. I used that micro-SIM card (using SIM adapter) in my old N900 and it was working fine. Probably I will do that test with other SIM card coz I'll be in another country and will post, if that will fix the problem.
