I've had problems installing yaspot, but now I (foolishly) removed qtify, and can't get either to work.
After I
apt-get remove despotify qtify
then try
apt-get install yaspot
I get an error that there are unmet dependences:
yaspot: Depends : libdespotify (>= 0.1maemo3svn488)
The if I try
apt-get -f install
it asks me to install libdespotify, I say yes, then I get an error about it being unable to overwrite the libdespotify that's already there.
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on, please? I've read this thread, and done some googling without success.

spotify request a client update now....
I don't think yaspot or qtify are going to work now.....

It seems that Spotify checks the current client revision when attempting to login. I am currently working on an alternative Spotify client for the N900, using the libopenspotify library. By modifying the client revision number to correspond with the version number of the official Spotify client, I was able to login to Spotify successfully..

Development of the client is still at an early stage, but I will keep you posted when an "alpha" version is available..
