If Hermes cannot find a contact in the address book it should give the possibility to create that contact from the Facebook data even if it has no telephone number.
Would this be possible?

It's possible, but what's the use-case? The only thing I can imagine is that you'd be able to get to your Facebook friends' homepages using Contacts as a form of bookmark manager.

I'll add a feature if there's a convincing use case :-)

I am travelling around and sometimes people add me on Facebook BEFORE giving me there phone number but I know that I will spend some time with them and they will give me their number.

But it'd be only friend you added (not the other way round) that'd be auto-created; and there'd be no easy way to decide between which ones to create and which ones not to. You'd end up with every friend having a contact created (and then merge within Contacts, rather than manual mapping) if this option was turned on.

Is that understanding correct?

I will say, ESPECIALLY if we can get hermes whitelisted or whatever, that using it on the droid where I just hit "import all contacts from facebook" and there they all were. That way I wouldn't have to manually create a contact and then use hermes to import it.

Yeah, obviously then everyone in facebook would be imported, but with the way you can sort through contacts on the n900 (just start typing a name), I don't think this would matter too much. Maybe an option to turn on and off?

Jaffa,
sorry if this has been asked before but do you have any plans to provide hooks into LinkedIn in the future? I was thinking of developing something along similar lines to what you have done with Hermes but if you were planning do to it.... maybe I would hang fire or perhaps could lend a hand?

It should be provided as part of the OS in PR 1.2.

It's been implemented more or less, but Fredric Wendt and I are working on a revamp to Hermes' internals to make it easier to support the extra accounts required.

A hand is definitely welcome. The start of the new engine API is in place, but we've not fully updated the GUI or ported everything over to it yet.

Great Software!!
I've finally slogged through this thread. To see if anyone else suggested this, but either I missed it or I'll be first.

I'm hoping as more services are added, we can define a heirarchy of which services picture to use.

I've added FB web pages in my contacts in the hopes that would trigger a match, but no joy....

Thanks

Edit: found the friend lists. They appear AFTER running a match.
