Same problem. Had my n900 for a few months, and never felt like disturbing the forum over this, just tried new setups. The problem appears suddenly, not related to installs or the sensor. Also definatly not related to open apps.
Usually it takes a while after a reflash for the problem to appear, sometimes its there almost immediatly.
